Andrew Barrowman ARBSA PS is a landscape artist based in Cornwall UK.

He works en plein air and from his studio at Krowji Redruth.

ANDREW BARROWMAN IS AN AWARD WINNING LANDSCAPE ARTIST.

BASED IN CORNWALL, HE PAINTS PREDOMINANTLY IN OILS BUT IS ALWAYS KEEN TO EXPERIMENT WITH DIFFERENT MEDIA INCLUDING CHARCOAL, EGG TEMPERA AND CASEIN PAINTS.

HE IS AN ENTHUSIASTIC PLEIN AIR SKETCHER AND WORKS OUTDOORS IN ALL WEATHERS. HIS STUDIO IS AT KROWJI, REDRUTH.

HE WAS ELECTED ASSOCIATE MEMBER OF ROYAL BIRMINGHAM SOCIETY OF ARTISTS IN MAY 2023 AND FULL MEMBER OF THE PASTEL SOCIETY IN JUNE 2023.

He spends many hours sketching, walking and observing the varied Cornish landscape and coastline as the light changes throughout the day and time of year. Andrew runs the Sketching Cornwall sketch club who meet twice a month to sketch in the landscapes around Redruth.

January 2024 saw Andrew win the Artist Magazine Award at the Pastel Society 125th exhibition ‘Remarkable’ for his charcoal and soft pastel drawings. He also appeared as a featured artist (in the pods!) on Landscape Artist of the Year 2024 at Stonehaven Harbour, Aberdeenshire.

In 2021 he won The Bowyer Drawing Prize at The New English Art Club annual exhibition and a Highly Commended Award at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists summer Friends exhibition. In April 2023 he took part in the RBSA candidates exhibition where he was elected an Associate member which was a dream come true!

Andrew exhibits regularly with the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists at the Brook Street Gallery in Birmingham, New English Art Club, The Drawing Society and The Pastel Society in Mall Galleries London.

In 2021 he published his first book Views from the studio window featuring 120 oil studies painting the view from his studio at Krowji, Redruth, as it changed over the course of a year. This book was generously part funded by Cultivator Cornwall. Copies of the book are available here.

He regularly teaches oil painting courses with St Ives School of Painting, Cornwall School of Art in Truro as well as running small group sessions at his studio in Krowji Redruth.
